[Personnel and Labor Relations] Ministry of Labor begins survey of labor and wage conditions at 3,400 firms
2024/08/15
In August 2024, the Ministry of Labor, Sickness and Social Affairs issued Decision No. 1225/QD-BLDTBXH of 2024 to survey the labor and wage situation in 3,400 enterprises in 18 provinces and cities, including Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City. The survey will be conducted from August to September 2024.
The survey will cover foreign companies established and operating before January 1, 2023, as well as workers who have been employed by these companies for at least one year.
Specifically, information will be collected on production and sales conditions in 2023 and the first quarter of 2024; labor, wage, and cost impacts; company compliance with laws and regulations; and expectations for a minimum wage increase in 2025. The list of companies surveyed will likely not be made public.
The results of the survey will be used as a basis for the National Wage Council to consider and propose a minimum wage for 2025, as well as for the regular publication of average wages in the market, and as a reference for companies and workers to use as a basis for negotiations.
Although this survey is not intended to audit companies’ compliance with labor laws, companies selected for the survey are required to cooperate with the survey and provide information.
