[Personnel and Labor Relations] Proposed Schedule for Tet Holidays and National Holidays in 2025

2024/09/26

In September 2024, the Vietnamese Ministry of Labor, Sickness, and Social Affairs sent a proposal to the ministries, which, after compiling the opinions of the ministries, submitted to the Prime Minister a proposed Tet and National Day vacation schedule for state officials in 2025. The specific details are as follows

・Tet vacation:
Nine days from January 25 to February 2, 2025 (December 26 to January 5 of the lunar calendar).
The breakdown is 5 days for official vacations and 4 days for weekend vacations.

・The vacation days for April 30, Southern Liberation Day, and May 1, International May Day:
A proposal has been made to transfer the working days to make it a five-day holiday weekend from April 30 to May 4, 2025.

・Regarding the National Day vacation:
The Ministry of Labor, Sickness, Sickness and Social Affairs proposes the following two proposals.
(1) Four days from August 30 to September 2, 2025. Two days of official leave and two days of weekend leave.
(2) September 2 and 3, 2025.
The Ministry of Labor, Sickness and Social Affairs recommends proposal (1).

With regard to company workers, the Ministry of Labor, Sickness, and Social Affairs encourages employers to provide their workers with the same Tet leave as civil servants. In fact, employers can determine the vacation schedule according to their circumstances, but they must notify workers of the Tet vacation schedule at least 30 days prior to implementation.

Please note that this schedule is a tentative proposal prior to approval by the government, and we will provide updates in future newsletters as soon as they are published.
